The Golden Kingdom
The Golden Kingdom...! Yes... I know this place. The same winds as on the surface blow through the thick green of this sacred land that guards this planet, Elysion. I lived in this land, and I loved this place. It was the kingdom of Earth, both mythical and savage, where Prince Endymion and his four guardians lived. Unlike many of the other palaces during the Silver Millenium, we are given almost no visuals and very little description of just what the Golden Kingdom was like. And it is not until the Dream arc, when the Dark Kingdom is a thing of the past, that any information is given out. Fortunately, even though we cannot see the actual castle in which Endymion and his Shitennou lived, some images of Elysion's countryside are revealed in this arc.
The Golden Kingdom is a land that exists somewhere beneath the surface of the Earth, which is just the opposite of all the other palaces, which float above their planets' surfaces like satellites. This underground land, which is also known as Elysion, is lush with forests and lakes. Despite not being above ground, it still has a sky, including both the sun and moon. This indicates that it's likely in a slightly different dimension. It's in the Earth, but it's really not. Lost? Good, so am I.
Helios, the priest of Elysion, indicates that the reason for the Golden Kingdom being situated inside the planet is because the Moon Kingdom already offers protection from outside forces. So the Golden Kingdom sits within the heart of Earth, where it can offer its strength and purity to the people on the surface.
Between other things that Helios has said and Mamoru's memories, it also seems that there were only eight inhabitants of Elysion. These were, respectively, Prince Endymion, the Shitennou, Helios, and the two Maenads (shrine maidens). Pegasus was there as well, but I don't think animals count. While Endymion and the Shitennou lived in the Golden Kingdom itself, Helios and the Maenads lived in isolation in the Elysion Shrine. Even though their dreams were always the same, both groups apparently never met (or at least, Endymion never met any of the others; Helios never mentioned the Shitennou, so it is unknown whether he was even aware of their presence, or they of his).
Now, unlike the Moon Kingdom there is never any mention of what happened to the Golden Kingdom. Seeing as how Metallia's forces were all busy marching on the Moon, it is unlikely that anything happened to the kingdom itself, although Helios does refer to it as a "dead kingdom". It may simply have withered away over time, but considering the apparently extensive lifespan of Helios and the other inhabitants of Elysion, this seems unlikely. Or perhaps nothing did happen to it. Perhaps it simply changed into what Metallia had wanted it to be. That is, the Dark Kingdom.
